ITINERARY

We depart from a meeting point near Plaza Foch at 7:00 AM and from a meeting point in the old town at 7:15 AM.

While traveling south on the Panamerican highway to Cotopaxi National Park, we can appreciate the beautiful Andean landscapes of the Avenue of Volcanoes.

Arrival to Limpiopungo lake at the foot of the volcano where our guide will give explanations about Cotopaxi volcano and the national park’s flora and fauna. 

We continue to the parking lot at 4500 m (14,760 ft) by car. From there, we hike up to the refuge of Cotopaxi Volcano “José Rivas”, which lies at 4864 m (15,953 ft). Time to rest and enjoy some hot tea or coffee before we head back to the parking lot.

For the adventurous kind, mountain bikes will be ready at the parking lot to drive downhill to Limpiopungo Lake. The others follow by car.

Before returning to Quito, we enjoy a delicious lunch. 

We will be back in Quito at around 6 PM. Arrival time in Quito can vary depending on traffic.

This tour takes you to Cotopaxi National Park which lies approximately 1,5 hours south of Quito. You learn about the national parks wildlife and walk from the parking lot (4500 m) to the refuge of Cotopaxi Volcano at 4864 m (15,953 ft).
