The Twin Craters that are locally known as Los Gemelos are two large holes located in the highlands of Santa Cruz. Each hole features its own viewpoint. There is one viewpoint located on either side of the highway that connects the Itabaca Channel in the north with the populated areas in the highlands. The Twin Craters are not real volcanic craters but were formed when the ceiling of a huge magma chamber collapsed because of erosion.
