As the name suggests, Sombrero Chino Island has the form of a Chinese hat. The island is located to the southeast of Santiago Island in the center of the Galapagos Islands. During a short hike along the small island’s coast, you can observe sea lions, marine iguanas and coastal birds. You can also admire the lava flows including small lava tubes at the slopes of the volcano. The narrow channel between the islands Chinese Hat and Santiago is an excellent snorkeling spot. If you are lucky you might even see penguins while snorkeling because a small colony of Galapagos penguins lives in the area. |
