Black Turtle Cove is located at the north shore of Santa Cruz Island. It is only accessible by boat and there is no landing point. The winding coastline is covered by three types of mangroves: red, white and black. These mangroves and the shallowness provide excellent shelter for the Galapagos marine wildlife.
During a dinghy ride, you can observe many different marine animals, especially juveniles. Spotted eagle rays, golden rays, turtles, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks are common in this area. You can also watch pelicans and blue-footed boobies fishing.
